For a few months now I have been rebuilding a 24 channel, Series One
from the ground up. I was told this Series One used to be Wolfman
Jacks from the Cave Studios but I have no way of verifying that,
however maybe someone here can?
Many of you, including Mike Stoica have been very helpful by selling
me spares, schematics, handing out advice etc.
Ralph Skelton is rebuilding the power supply with all sorts of hod
rodded electronics to give it a lower noise floor, 110/220 switchable,
new caps and a bunch of other stuff that I am rather clueless about on
the power side of things.
Last night I had to pull a channel (13 of course) to replace a buss
switch that I acquired from Dean. What a chore it is to cut out that
channel and free it and then twice the chore to work it back in and
silver solder everything. Anyone here with a Series One knows that
these things aren't modular (a sound quality debate for another time.)
Anyway I finished the job and tested the results to my satisfaction so
now it is time to button it all up and start testing every component
with the new PS when it arrives.
I took pictures of most of the steps as a photo journal of the work
done in case I ever want to sell it down the line (can't imagine that
happening but you never know) and I was going to post a slideshow
online for all of you to see and laugh at my pain.
Truly an advanced course in patience and burned fingers...
