Hia Jim,
The first thing to realize is that the modules are like 26 inches
long. By design, they don't have a direct out like the Series I
modules. Each module has a buss output amplifier. Other than the
size, they do require an extra voltage for logic. So, they need +18v
-18v +48v and -7v that is put in series with the -18v for a -25 to
ground. Also, if you wanted to make their use foolproof, one might
want to hardwire a few routing switches so that signal would come
out. As there are two chanel paths that share the eq, the high pass
filter, and an insert loop, there are several routing switches to
accomplish this. As far as I could tell, the eq was similar to the
Series I, but for the lowest band that when pulled out did not become
a high pass filter. I'm sure they would be quite nice racked up
though. It would even be possible to make the output balanced with
the buss pre already on the board. Hth.

looked at the prints. Would there be any significant benefit (or
dramatic difference) to racking up a pair of these rather than a
pair of S1E modules for an extra set of pre/EQs? Thanks!

Elan 2 channel strips for my console from Sytek about 5 years ago. I
think $250/channel is a bargain for Elite strips, assuming they are in
good condition and fully functional.
