Has anyone else found that an nmap port scan can lock up
inetd on a Solaris 8 box?
I've gotten reports for a while that even safe nessus scans
were causing problems with some Solaris boxes in a data
center at work. I've been working with the admins there
trying to identify which plugin was causing the problem.
Yesterday I tried two simple port scans, of just 20 ports
mind you. One scan was for UDP (-sU) while the other was
a stealth TCP scan (-sS). To my surprise, that was enough
to cause a Solaris 8 system's inetd locked up for telnet
and ftp access.
Anyone else seen such things?
