Mandrake tends to put things in weird places which can cause problems. Make sure you put /usr/local/bin /usr/local/sbin in your path and that might help. Also, you need the gtk-devel package installed which doesnt get put in in the standard install. You should find it on your one of your supplimental disks in the RPMS directory. That should set you straight.
