Hey *, I'm tinkering with the command-line client for
the first time and can't figure out a couple of
things. Naturally I've poured through the man pages
and FAQ before posting.
First, how do I simply connect to the server (on
localhost) without running a scan in batch mode? I
seem to have to name a target and results file
immediately which launches a scan. This is my syntax,
although I've done without the -q with the same
results:
[root@L plugins]# nessus -q 127.0.0.1 1241 twigles
passwordhere /usr/nessus/targets /usr/nessus/results
Second (and this is why I'd like to know #1) is I
tried to launch one plugin at a time and couldn't do
it. I got the following:
[root@L plugins]# nasl -t 192.168.1.1
/usr/local/lib/nessus/plugins/cisco_http_dos.nasl
/usr/local/lib/nessus/plugins/cisco_http_dos.nasl :
Warning : evaluating unknown variable - description
[25921] connect : Connection refused
So I'm guessing I need to explicitly connect to the
server before trying the nasl command, which leads me
back to problem number 1. I can go back to the gtk
client but I'd really like to 'wow' the ladies with my
command-line prowess (and script the scans too I
guess).
One more interesting thing to note is that tried to
search the archives of the list and for some reason
couldn't get further back than March.
Thanks for anything,
twigles
