Hello,
Just wanted to report a little snag a friend and I ran into today. We found
that if you put duplicate ports in the port list, it causes nmap to spit out
an error, but nmap doesn't close, causing nessus to hang indefinitely, while
looking like it is still scanning. The error nmap returns is:
"WARNING: Duplicate port number(s) specified. Are you alert enough
to be using Nmap? Have some coffee or Jolt(tm)."
(An enjoyable error message, at least)
So really this is not a nessus bug, but it would be nice if the
valid_port_range function did dup checking as well. Just wanted to post this
up in case someone else runs into the problems we were having (was hard to
figure out that was what was going on with this problem).
John
