When I wrote I've had the same error (one core for every ip scanned : all 
plugins and no kind of optimizations....no pings...) on rpm packaged 1.2.6 
also on cvs branch 2 and 'after' I tried cvs branch 3 to see if there were 
the some bheaviour, I compared cores of all current versions and everywhere I 
found inside the same kind of error and after compiled with debug options the 
name of same plugin....

Sorry, but I'm not a programmer.... I never did a gdb bt before Arboi asked 
me...and I can't correct complex sources by myself ;o/
