Hi,

I am using nessusd v2.0.1 for linux. I have NessusWX 1.4.2-HF1 installed on Win2K Pro.

I can create users on the server and connect remotely with NessusWX using passwords.

However, when I try and do it with certificates I get an error from NessusWX -
        'Invalid username or password supplied'
I also get:
'Connecting to server x.x.x.x (port 1241) using TLSv1 encrypted connection...
SSL connection using DES-CBC3-SHA
Using < NTP/1.2 >
ERROR: Invalid username or password supplied. Connection terminated.'

In nessusd.messages I get:
[Fri Feb 28 15:42:16 2003][15020] Client requested protocol version 12.
[Fri Feb 28 15:42:16 2003][15020] bad login attempt from x.x.x.x

I am using the cert_nessuswx_username.pem file, which I copy from the server and install into NessusWX as a client certificate.

Questions:
1) Does the file have to be in a UNIX or Windows format? (i.e. end of line characters, copied over as binary, etc.)
2) Is there anything I can do to get more verbose logging on the problem?
3) I am assuming that the username that I enter into the NessusWX client should be the same as the username that I have in the certificate.
4) Is there something that I need set in the config file?
5) Can anyone shortcut me to the solution?

Thanks,
Joe
