Well, certainly I should suggest that the first place to start is "man
nessus", which will give you the general overview of things. If you have
that down, http://www.nessus.org/doc/nessus.html has links to more specific
documentation. In terms of discussion, you're looking at it! The most
common
question that comes up usually regards the behavior and functionality of
nessus's plugins and this is second only to getting it to compile on
strange and wonderful operating systems (Solaris 9 junkie here).

Specific tips about specific plugins can be had by clicking on the plugin
category in the upper window and then mousing over the plugin on the lower
window. Clicking it's name brings up a short description, shows
information about the plugin, and a brief set of warnings, gotchas, and
other tidbits.

I would STRONGLY suggest signing up for bugtraq. Once you do, figuring out
what the heck a new plugin is checking for is a lot easier, and it also
gives you something to watch out for. Other then that, feel free to post
questions here.
