We are using the netbios_name_get.nasl plugin as part of our Windows scans. One of the valuable features is that it returns the MAC address, which makes it easy for our techs to find the PCs that have the problem we are otherwise looking for. Sometimes, though, it doesn't get the MAC address or the other system information. I've ruled out cases like it being Windows 9x and the PC not listening on the ports. Are there any other factores that may keep this query from being successful?
