No.  Most of these simple firewalls are stateful.  That means they 
rember the nature of the data sent outbound, and automatically allow
the return traffic through.  This doesn't require the alteration
of the rules at all.  p2p might be the exception, depending on which
application is in use, and if your friend is giving files, or simply
receiving them from others.
