Just a thought - how about adding to the client a "refresh updates" button? Which would request the server to run the update script. Being lazy (in the engineer's definition of working hard to find an easy way to so something!) I tend to get updates by cron so I'm up-to-date when I run a manual scan. If a manual update button was added, I'd turn off the cron job on my manual scan systems. I also wonder whether it would be worth saving your bandwith by packaging only those plugins which have been updated since releasing nessus 2.0.x. E.g. request plugins-2.0.9.tgz for those updated since the 2.0.9 package. That method would also let you know how many old copies of nessus are out there from the server logs. [If you do add client buttons, could I add a request for a "save configuration file" button for non-interactive scanning?] Andrew Yeomans -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information contained herein is confidential and is intended solely for the addressee.
