Familiarity with the tar command is part of the basic requirements for
anyone with a root password. In fact for everyone with the intention to
install a single piece of software on any given unix platform.
It's pretty much like not telling someone how to use a keyboard. (Unless
you happen to be Scotty looking for some transparant aluminium. ;-)
