I compiled Nessus unstable successfully on an old Compaq Pentium III 600
I've been allowed to play with, which in turn is running a bare bones
installation of Debian Sarge. Scanning my home network from the inside
produces reports, but when attempting to scan a friend's machine across
the net, the scan ends after less than a minute with an 'nessusd
returned an empty report' message. Prior to initiating the scan I
plugged the nessus box directly into the Adelphia cable modem after
unplugging my firewall box (and hence, my home network). The nessus box
is not running a firewall; although, it's been hardened somewhat. After
getting the 'empty report' message, I pinged my friend's IP
successfully. The nessusd.messsages entries for the scan are:

Am I doing something clueless? Or is my friend's ISP (Verizon DSL)
preventing us from having fun?
Thanks for any help.

Roger
