I am new to the list so I may have been looking in the wrong
place. I want to correlate Vulnerbility scans between nessus and ISS.
Since ISS comes with MS SQL server. I pass planning to
use the schema in nessus, add another field to the table so I
can join Vunerability assessments from one product to another.
Problem is I can not figure out from the list archives if:
1.Does Net-Nessus-ScanLite-0.01 run on Windows XP ?
2.Can I run nessusWX from the command line so I can write
a bat file or vbscript to convert the NBE and download plugin descriptions
into the database? What are the command line switches and where are they
documented for nessusWX?
I'm not sure how many hosts you are scanning, but you
may want to try NeWT. It does the same checks as Nessus,
runs on Windows XP, and there is no charge to scan within
your particular Class C address space.
I'm not familiar with Net-Nessus-ScanLite-0.01 or the
internals of the nessusWX client for nessusd. Our research
and development folks have been supporting nessusWX, but
we're not focusing on it.
If you really want to run Nessus natively, you may also
consider running a VMware host on your Windows desktop
to run the Nessus daemon for you.
If you want to do this commercially, companies like Harris
have products which unify multiple vulnerability scanning
reports, including Nessus and ISS.
