Hi guys
I have an error - debian, latest download last night of nessus
Ummm.. What did you actually download? The latest Nessus packages or
the latest Nessus tar ball?
"configure: error: Could not find OpenSSL and OpenSSL header on your
System"
How did you configure Nessus? Just run './configure' ? Do you have the
proper libraries? For example, to build Nessus-core you need these
packages:
xlibs-dev, libgmp3-dev, libz-dev, libpcap-dev, libglib1.2-dev,
libglib2.0-dev, libgtk2.0-dev, libgd-gif1-dev, libwrap-dev, libssl-dev
And also libnessus-dev and libnasl-dev (which you will get when you
compile nessus-libraries and nasl)
If you are a Nessus novice (as your header states) you might be better
off using the Nessus pre-compiled packages. Check out the "Binary
packages" section of:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/n/nessus-core.html
http://packages.qa.debian.org/libn/libnasl.html
http://packages.qa.debian.org/n/nessus-libraries.html
http://packages.qa.debian.org/n/nessus-plugins.html
Or just run 'apt-get install nessus nessusd' to install both the
server and the client (and all associated libraries) in your Debian
system.
Regards
Javier
