The syslog socket has probably been closed by Nessus (which closes a bunch of "unused" file descriptors when forking, to avoid having processes writing to the wrong place).

syslog logging is discouraged - it has not been tested for a couple of years now, so it will simply be removed starting with Nessus 2.2.6.
