I know you folks are probably crazy busy, but if any of you get a moment, I would greatly appreciate your help. I have the NST running the nessus daemon after creating the ramdisk and using the -rdir option as described in the section about nessus. I then installed nessuswx on a separate machine, connected to the nessus server, and created a session to test with. In that session under port scanners, I had all of the scanners listed there that are supposed to be, according to what I've read; nessus, netstat, and among others, Nmap. This was very cool. I set options in Nmap for the scan I wanted to run, then started a scan. Everything semed to go well, and I was able to look at the report and analyze it. What happened next, I do not know. I deleted the test session I had created, and when I went to create a new session, I no longer had Nmap as an option on the Port Scanner page. I have deleted all references to nessus from the wx machine (including the registry, files, and folders) and then unzipped wx again. No luck. When I try to create a new session, I still have no Nmap option. Is this something anyone has seen or heard of before? I am scheduled to do some vulnerability scanning on Monday, and Nmap was a significant factor in that plan. I guess I could run the scan manually from the command line; it still works that way. But no matter what I do, I cannot get Nmap to show up as a scanner in Nessuswx anymore. Again, any help or guidance you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
