Are you using tcp_wrappers to limit access to your daemon? If sure, make sure that you allow access from the machine's DNS name and that localhost resolves to 127.0.0.1. If that doesn't help, what errors exactly do you get? You may need to run nessus from a commandline to see something more than "SSL Error".
