I don't know what error 1813 means in the Winsock API, but here are some
questions that might help pinpoint the source of your particular problem:
- Is nessusd still running?
- Is nessusd listening on port 1241 on an interface reachable
via client? That is, are you running it as something like
"nessusd -a 127.0.0.1"?
- Is either tcp_wrappers or a firewall blocking access to
nessusd?
- Is nessusd configured to use TLS? In other words, is
there a line in nessusd.conf that says something like
"ssl_version = NONE"?
- Can you connect successfully using NessusWX on a
different machine? What about using a different
client entirely such as the unix client on the same
host as nessusd itself?
- Are there any interesting errors logged in either the
system's messages or nessusd.messages log files?
