Mhhh... I'd say that you're running out of ram. Try to reduce
max_hosts to 30 or 50 and see wether the problem persists ? (how much
ram do you have ?).



That solved it!  It is a RAM issue.

The box has 2GB of RAM, but it appears something is hosing it up.  I had no such issues prior to the upgrade, so I went down the wrong path of the targets-file.

After dropping the max_hosts to 30, the scan successfully went from x.x.148.0 to x.x.149.0.

Thanks for the quick response.  I will look closely for some system issues.
