Andrew,

On what platform are you installing it?

If it’s Linux, first ensure that you have Java 1.5.0 installed. Then, you can “tar –xzf reason-0.5.1-lnx.tgz” which will extract a directory called “reason” into the current directory. You can then “cd reason” and execute “./reasong.sh”. If you do not have your DISPLAY set it will complain and you’ll need to set it. Also, if you don’t have certain environment variables set (MOZILLE_FIVE_HOME, JAVA_HOME) it will also complain but then it will try to locate them.

If you’re using Windows, just unzip “reason-0.5.1-win” and execute “reasong.exe” inside the reason directory. Again, if you don’t have Java 1.5.0 it will complain and you’ll need to install at least the JRE from http://java.sun.com.

Let me know if you are having problems, and I’ll try to help.

John
