I installed a nessus server/client on windows 2k3 last week. It appears it is unable to do port scans. Every scan I run, regardless of which scanners are checked, comes back with a report in the general/tcp section that no port scans were enabled. Of course, I go back and check and sure enough they are. I googled up that someone else had this problem on linux. I'm also using 3.2.1. The server was installed with administrative credentials, and I'm starting the client with administrative credentials (although this is also repeatable under non-admin creds). I am running with a direct feed, and it's updated as of late last week.
unfortunately, it would be a long time to pull the scan config off the thing due to policies, however, i can say that this is even happening with the default scan policies. -- Doug Nordwall Unix, Network, and Security Administrator You mean the vision is subject to low subscription rates?!!? - Scott Stone, on MMORPGs
