Here is a way you might be able to help a worthy family of one of your students. We are excited to announce the launch of the new partner website to TeachersFirst, TeachersAndFamilies.com! TeachersAndFamilies.com will have both free and subscription content. You can visit us at: http://www.teachersandfamilies.com We would like to offer a free subscription to worthy families submitted by you, our loyal users. We will donate five subscriptions from each state and the family should have access to a computer with their own email address. If your submission is one of the first five requests received from your state, both you and the recipient will be notified by email. To submit a family, go to: http://www.teachersandfamilies.com/freereg.cfm We created TeachersAndFamilies.com to give parents and their children access to quality educational resources that meet the needs of families today. Teachers have told us that strong, involved families are one of the most important factors in their child's learning experience. Our new site will help parents and their children build the habits that make learning a positive part of every day. TeachersAndFamilies.com's initial emphasis will be in three important areas: o Interesting content and activities for preschool children (It's never too early to get a good start); Activity themes are at: http://www.teachersandfamilies.com/open/ps-themes.html o Original articles and web resources from professional sources for parents (Quality education-related information); You can see some samples at: http://www.teachersandfamilies.com/open/parent/index.html o Useful content for parents of children who have disabilities or are gifted (Supportive information for the exceptional child); The starting point for this extensive section is http://www.teachersandfamilies.com/sped/ o And, as a bonus, many K-12 study units from TeachersFirst are also accessible. In each area, our goal is to involve parents in their child's education, to help parents work more effectively with schools and classroom teachers, and to let young children and their parents learn together. Our new site will have a wealth of free information and resources for each area of focus. There will also be an expanded library of original content for preschoolers, students, and parents which will be available for a nominal subscription price (12 months for $19.95) to help defray costs for TeachersAndFamilies as well as TeachersFirst. We will continue to add new information to both our free and member sections on a regular basis. TeachersAndFamilies.com is designed to be the perfect complement to the resources you find each week at TeachersFirst. We hope you'll review the site, share our good news with parents with whom you come in contact, and perhaps become a member yourself. You can register at: http://www.teachersandfamilies.com/bemember.html As always, welcome your feedback. Send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] TeachersFirst's featured sites this week include a great interactive art site, some wonderful writing samples, Earth Day ideas for both elementary and high school students, and lots more. The features are at: http://www.teachersfirst.com/feature.htm We'll be back with our regular TeachersFirst Update next week. Remember, you can find all the great TeachersFirst content from our Content Matrix: http://wwww.teachersfirst.com/matrix.htm That will do it for this week. Enjoy exploring both our sites, and remember that you really do make a difference. David Shively Senior Editor IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING E-MAIL ADDRESSES: TeachersFirst's mailing list has thousands of names. This makes manual list editing extremely difficult. We'll continue to do it when necessary, but we'd much prefer you follow the automated instructions below: TO SUBSCRIBE to this newsletter, go to http://www.teachersfirst.com/lsoftsignup.htm and complete the form there. You will receive a confirming e-mail for security purposes. When you respond to that message, your name will automatically be added to the TeachersFirst mailing list. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Apr 2002 08:12:44 -0500 From: Gleason Sackmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: K12> lessons for upcoming PBS mini series From: "Kathryn Martinez" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Kathy M.
