ARTICLE: Business Air Travel in an Age of Vital Electronic Equipment
Transport and Airport Security

When executives and other important corporate employees travel, they may
carry with them vital corporate information and trade secrets in
electronic devices like laptop computers. This article discusses ways
that airport security checks can be handled in such a way as to reduce
risks to the vital electronic tools transported with the business
traveler. One consideration not mentioned in the article is to be careful
of the content on the laptop, personal digital assistant or other
electronic device. Reduce or eliminate corporate information on the
software and hardware in these devices themselves and use resources that
the computer can link to via the internet when at meetings or events or a
work station at the travel destination as the information sources of
confidential information and data. Intranets, extranets and private
password protected websites are sources not on the hard drive of a laptop
and the data cannot be stolen with the theft of the laptop if it resides
in these locations. This is particularly the case if the password to such
resources are not on the laptop or are well encrypted to protect them from
a user who has stolen the electronic device.

....few things have changed more in the last year than air travel. For
frequent travelers, and especially frequent business travelers who carry
items that look suspicious when X-rayed--laptops, PDAs, cell phones,
cables, chargers, spare batteries--it can be a major hassle.

[Sampling of the list of ten precautionary tips for protection of
electronic equipment carried by the business traveler]

Make your laptop bag easily searchable

Make unfamiliar devices obviously nonthreatening

Maintain visual contact with your bag

Make your laptop itself an undesirable theft target

Each listed tip is followed by a concise explanation of how to implement
the tip.

The article concludes with a list of websites that provide additional
information that will provide tips and information that will help to
protect the air traveler, business or otherwise. The full text of the
article may be read at the URL above.

A Carbonized Brickles3000 v2.0 Release!

Merrimack, New Hampshire, September 10, 2002: Ken Winograd and Space-Time
Associates announced today the release of version 2.0 of an exciting
Macintosh game called Brickles3000.

Brickles3000 is an all-new game based on the 'ball and paddle' game called
Brickles, which was first offered in 1985, shortly after the introduction
of the first Macintosh.

Brickles3000 is not your typical 'ball and paddle' game. Brickles3000
features adjustable colors and patterns, adjustable ball and paddle sizes,
adjustable speed and window sizes. Even the number of paddles in the game
can be changed. Brickles3000 is suitable for everyone from the very
youngest children learning to use a mouse, to fast-paced arcade fans.

The new Brickles3000, aside from being optimized for the PowerPC, also
features much smoother animation than in days past. A new toolbar allows
for rapid personalized game customizations, making it a snap to adjust
speed, ball and paddle sizes, game colors and window sizes and shapes.

Brickles3000 v2.0 is the first version to be 'carbonized' allowing the game
to run natively on both Macintosh OS 9 and OS X. This version also includes
other playability and cosmetic improvements.

Brickles3000 requires a PPC Macintosh with a screen resolution of 800x600
(or more), and OS 9 or OS X.

Brickles3000 is available now for a free trial. For more information, to
download or securely register the program, please visit the Brickles3000
web page at:

Another source, that's more widely known, is from the Associated Press.
http://wire.ap.org/APpackages/victim_search/index.html

In fact, this is the source of the information for the
september11victims.com
site. IMHO, I think it's better to cite the provider of the statistics and
not
the september11victims.com site.
