Hi folks --
I have three machines, all on the same subnet. I run SNMPc on machine
1. I've snmpd 5.1.2 on machine #2, and I'm asking snmpd to proxy and
forward certain requests to machine 3.
The requests that I want to forward are all in the enterprises.ibm(2)
subtree. Sadly, varbinds in that subtree are not being forwarded as I
wish.
This is my proxy entry in snmpd.conf:
proxy -v 2c -c public 192.168.10.103 1.3.6.1.4.1.2
By this, I mean that machine #2 should forward anything under
enterprises.2 to 192.168.10.103.
When I turn on packet dump in snmpd in the forwarding machine (#2), I
see that no packets are being forwarded.
What am I doing wrong?
SNMPc is running on 192.168.10.33. Here's part of the packet dump
(ascii column deleted so it'll fit) that shows the managed machine
(#2) not forwarding packets, but responding to the manager instead
(with the right stuff, btw):
