I'm pretty sure it's been around a lot longer than that - since ucd-snmp 4.2.

What has been broken (several times) in the 5.0 releases was configure's
detection of dlmod support. In those cases, you could manually edit
include/net-snmp-config.h to turn on dlmod support before building.
