1) Install DarwinPorts 1.2.1 on 10.4.7 Server.
2) gcc_select – default compiler gcc 4.0.0 (Apple build 4061)
3) snmpd –v – net-snmp 5.2.1
4) cd > net-snmp downloaded from net-snmp.org
4) ./configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --with-libwrap --with-defaults --prefix=/usr --with-persistent-directory=/var/db/ucd-snmp --with-mib-modules=host
6) make
7) sudo make install
All these steps complete ok and the install compiles and installs ok – reporting version 5.3.1. Only problem is:
8) restart server
9) snmpd –v – net-snmp 5.2.1. Aaaaarrrggghh!!!!
Any thoughts anyone as to how I can tell Mac OS 10.4.7 Server that it has 5.3.1 installed? Is there a path somewhere that needs changing? (I suspect not, as installing over the existing 5.2.1 install of net-snmp should preserve the path – right?
Also, any tips on configuring the snmp.conf file?
Many thanks in advance,
Jeremy.
