I've always found it odd (and confusing) that this one MIB is split
over two directories.  So it seemed an obvious step to consolidate
all the code into one place.
   And since this particular problem is related to the length of
pathnames, it made sense to me to choose the shorter directory.

  I was also trying to keep the changes to a minimum - particularly
since we're relatively late in the release cycle.  So moving three
code files (plus four header files) seemed better than moving
five (plus six).   This also reduced the effect on the glue (#include
and config_require statements) that holds all of this stuff together.

  I'd naively hoped that by minimising the changes in this way,
this suggestion might have some chance of being received
favourably.   Foolish of me....
