HI, For the first time, I'm writing access routines for a NET-SNMP agent and I'm having some problems getting started.
Part of the problem is terminology used in the descriptions (man pages tutorials), and the other part is what appears incomplete examples. For example, on page http://www.net-snmp.org/tutorial/tutorial-5/toolkit/mfd/ data lookup is described. I'm not sure what is meant by "external" data vs "internal" data. It seems like the approach that is appropriate for my use is "direct". I know a bit about SNMP and have used other SNMP agent development kits, so I don't need any sugar coating. What I would appreciate is a few pointers. In my implementation, the management info is accessed by resource managers where the info and access was designed for SNMP. That is, the data types match SNMP, and there are "get first" and "get next" access functions that return the info in lexi-order. Given this, what NET-SNMP functions should be used to register the tables, and what does the execution flow look like for SNMP GET and GETNEXT operations.
