Hi Dave, I couldn't spend much time to debug the scenario.
Now I would like to have some information regarding SNMPv3 traps. As you suggested earlier, I have experimented with sending SNMPv3 traps manually using "snmptrap" and receive the same using 'snmptrapd' I have referred the below link for the configuration of 'snmptrapd' to receive SNMPv3 traps Reference: http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/TUT:snmptrap_SNMPv3 Steps done: 1. Added the below entry in /var/net-snmp/snmptrapd.conf file createUser -e 0x0102030405 myuser MD5 mypassword DES myotherpassword 2. Started 'snmptrapd -f -D' 3. Executed snmptrap -e 0x0102030405 -v 3 -u myuser -a MD5 -A mypassword -l authNoPriv localhost 42 coldStart.0 It seems snmptrapd received the message. But there is some problem regarding the authorization. The received message is not logged into the syslog file. And also the message "snmptrapd:auth: result: not authorized" is getting in syslog file. I am not sure whether my configuration is enough or not. I've now taken a proper look at the 'snmp_error' API, and finally understand what you're doing here. I'm afraid that I've no idea what might be going wrong here.
