But on due consideration,  I like the alternatives even less.

So yes - I think we probably should release 5.6.1.1 to revert this change.

Next question:  should 5.6.1.1 contain *just* this reversion
or should it contain other changes on the 5.6.x branch?

That's really a decision for the Fedora packagers, not us.
