The problem with simply applying Thomas' patch, is that it also requires
regenerating the configure script (which requires a particular version of
'autoconf').   You have said on several occasions that you are new to
the task of compiling software, so ensuring the correct autoconf environment
is likely to be non-trivial.

I would therefore suggest that the simplest approach is to follow the advice
you have been given several times now:


>   a)  Retrieve the current 5-7-patches branch,
>             (instructions on how to do this are on the website)

> or
>
>   b)  Wait for 5.7.1.rc1
