Hi,

I'm looking to add management functionality to an application running on an embedded linux system: one with 2MB of RAM, 32MB of flash memory (or something along those lines). It seems that AgentX would be a great solution - one which would interact with an snmpd running on a different machine (e.g. a desktop linux machine). I've followed the agentx tutorial on the www.net-snmp.org website, but it seems that my resulting "mysubagent" binary is really bloated (memory-wise). I can't afford to have much in the way of code or libraries on this embedded linux system.

Is there a lightweight version of an AgentX library floating within the net-snmp community, or is there any "preferred" non-net-snmp AgentX library that works "well" with net-snmp's snmpd with AgentX support enabled?

I'd appreciate any and all information. Thanks!

  - Armen
