Greetings,

We are looking at using Net-SNMP to support an agent plugin to execute commands remotely on our servers. A command line limitation of 1472 bytes was looking pretty thin. So, we determined to use SNMP over TCP. In the process of testing, we learned about the concept of UDP packet framentation to send arbitrarily large datagrams.

The easiest solution to our problem is to ignore it and let the IP layer fragmentation solve our problem. However, my question is this: Can the popular Managment Consoles (OpenView, Tivoli, etc...) handle SET and GET requests which require fragmentation? It seems like they should.

Thanks,
Mike
