That sounds vaguely promising.
If you manage to determine what 'configure' is complaining about
(and more usefully, *why*!) and let us know what needs changing,
we'll try to update things accordingly.

That doesn't surprise me greatly.
Unfortunately AFAIK, none of the core developers have access to AIX kit,
so we're very much reliant on contributions from the wider community.
I'm sure that any patches you might be able to offer would be greatly
appreciated - not least by your colleagues in the AIX world.
