Are those the *only* debug messages you see?
I'd expect to see a large amount of debug output, as the library reads
in each MIB file in turn.

If you're only getting those two lines, then I wonder whether the index
file is actually wrong.

Try deleting the file /usr/local/share/snmp/mibs/.index and run things
again.
