What's involved in building snmpdemoapp on a Win32 platform?

Since I am not sure how to translate option definition lines such as

   CFLAGS=-I. `net-snmp-config --cflags`
   BUILDLIBS=`net-snmp-config --libs`
   BUILDAGENTLIBS=`net-snmp-config --agent-libs`

from gcc compiler-ize to cl compiler-ize, I opted to try to compile it with Visual Studio. -

I compile successfully after adding the win32 and include directories to the "Additional include directories" list -

If I now
Add references netsnmp.lib and ws2_32.lib to the Input/"Additional Dependencies" list
 Direct LIBCD.lib to the "Ignore Specific Library" column
Add references to the Win32\lib\debug or lib\release path listed under General/"Additional Library
    Directories"
I am left with the link error "unresolved external symbol __imp__optind"

I'm not quite sure what all the "net-snmp-config --libs" and "net-snmp-config --agent-libs" reference

Can anyone suggest
what the missing library might be, (and/or any other missing project configuration)

   or provide a Win32 (cl) translation of the gcc makefile

(Still too new to Linux or Cygwin to feel comfortable using the gcc compiler (but am downloading Cygwin components in case))
