Furthermore,

2) What sounds easier to implement in Net-SNMP?
    a) patching SNMPv3 security module to bypass USM and VACM when peer's IP address is internal (loopback).
    b) create a new degenerated security module. (from SNMP architecture perspective, this is the preffered solution)

Subject: Bypassing USM for internal requests.

Hey,

I would like to bypass the USM model for local applications' requests.
Meaning that I'd like applications on the local machine (running the Master agent), to be able to access MIB objects (using SNMP get/set), but without USM authentication or authorization.

1) How can I create a session (which the master agent listens on) without USM/VACM? (any guidelines would be appreciated)
1a) Can the authentocator field in the snmp_session structure help here in any way? (what does it do?)

thanks,
Erez Makavy
