I am currently analysing the possibility of using SNMP for on of our coming
project. Some unresolved problem still remain after cheching in the mailing
list. In advance sorry, If that question have been already posted, in my case I
did not see it.
1) I know that notification are normally send from an Agent to the Manager. For
some reasons, we would like to send some messages from the manager waiting for
just one ACKNOLEDGMENT. Is it possible to send "a NOTIFICATION" (trap V2) from
the MANAGER in addition to the normal notification from the Agent to the
Manager. Some website talk about SNMP over TCP but still on a developpment
level. In or case TCP connection would require to many connection procedures
which means more required time.
If that is not possible we would need to create on a client computer our own
module in addition to the normal Agent, able to receive SNMP message and also
managing the acknoledment process.
2) I noticed some problem with the notification functionnality on Net-snmp,
even though some patch have been updated. Is there still some main problem to
use Notification (V2).
