At least in IPv4 SNMP broadcasts were a quite common way to discover devices in the network and then manage them using point-to-point SNMP GETs and SETs. Even snmpd implements this functionality for IPv4 (listening on udp:161). So can I assume snmpd doesn't implement the IPv6 side of this? (when listening to upd6:161).
