Wow, that's really surprising. Does the following command work with that
 RPM:
snmpget -c [community] -v1 localhost CD-SNMP-MIB::versionConfigureOptions.0
?

My RPM was built and signed by RedHat: Here's the output from
'rpm -qi net-snmp':
  Name : net-snmp
  Version: 5.3.1 Vendor: Red Hat, Inc.
  Release: 14.fc6 Build Date: Mon 26 Mar 2007 06:45:14 AM EDT
  Install Date: Sun 08 Apr 2007 08:50:28 PM EDT
  Build Host: hs20-bc1-6.build.redhat.com
  Group : System Environment/Daemons
  Source RPM: net-snmp-5.3.1-14.fc6.src.rpm
  Size: 2850825       License: BSDish
  Signature : DSA/SHA1, Mon 26 Mar 2007 03:24:49 PM EDT, Key ID
b44269d04f2a6fd2
  Packager : Red Hat, Inc.

I got it from
ftp://fedora.bu.edu/fedora/core/updates/6/i386/net-snmp-5.3.1-14.fc6.i386.rpm
It's the Boston University mirror, which has low-latency for me. It's
also listed as an official Fedora mirror at:
  http://fedoraproject.org/Download/mirrors.html

Are you running Fedora 6 as well? If so, care to update to this RPM and
try the command below?  ;)

OK, here's the output from
"snmpget -c [community] -v1 localhost
UCD-SNMP-MIB::versionConfigureOptions.0"

   Error in packet
   Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
   Failed object: UCD-SNMP-MIB::versionConfigureOptions.0

I have attempted to make sure that all MIB data for this host are
available through the SNMP server, in snmpd.conf:
view systemview included .1.3.6.1.2.1
I think this directive should allow everything, but I'm a relative
newcomer to SNMP.

Thanks again for your attention,
