I figure that my trap receiver is snmptrapd.
I usually restart de snmpd and snmptrapd daemons
on my local box with
service snmpd restart and
service snmptrapd restart.
I used the snmpconf to generate the files
snmp.conf
snmpd.conf
snmptrapd.conf.
I thought this was the correct procedure to make
a minimal monotoring service.

The "local box" is the computer on which you are running
the snmptrap command.

A "trap receiver" is a program that listens for incoming
traps, and does something sensible with them.
(Perhaps logging them to a file, or running some command).
You are generating traps - what do you expect to be
done with these traps?
