If the intent is to create a suitable configuration to get the agent up and running, then I suggest you don't bother with "snmpconf", and simply create the snmpd.conf file by hand. It's a straight text file, and can be created using any standard editor. The single line rocommunity public should be sufficient to get you started. See the snmpd.conf(5) man page for full details.
