No - that's a perfectly valid response.
I was really trying to see if this gave some form of error.
Returning an empty result is OK.
The full configure command is

I'm really not sure why this is giving an error.
But the main issue is the MAN3 issue in Makefile/Makefile.in
Fix that, and you should be OK
