If you add the relevant Cisco MIBs to your linux server, then this will probably improve the way that the incoming traps are logged. (i.e. you'll see names rather than numbers). So yes - ideally you should add the relevant MIBs. But if you can't, then this doesn't really matter - you will still receive the incoming traps, and will be able to process or log them anyway.
