We have a few LaserWriter 16/600 printers in our network (SUN/SGI/NT/Linux).
The entry in my printcap for that printer looks like:

lp5
        :lp=laserwriter5
        :[EMAIL PROTECTED]
        :cm=Johan's printer
        :sd=/var/spool/LPRng/laserwriter5
        :lf=/var/log/LPRng/laserwriter5
        :if=/usr/local.host/LPRng/bin/lpf
        :mx#0
        :sh
        :sf

(note: this is from an SGI but that shouldn't make much difference). To print
to it through samba I use the following config file:

[global]
...
        printing = bsd
        printcap name = /etc/printcap
...
[printers]
   comment = All Printers
   browseable = no
   printable = yes
   public = no
   writable = no
   create mode = 0700

Why are you trying to print through appletalk? The LaserWriter 16/600 PS does
support bsd printing.
