Alan is a friend of mine who builds synthesisers and experiments with different types of controller i.e. pressure - air, gravity, movement, tilt etc. He has been collaborating remotely with Will all this past year of lockup, resulting in a dozen or more recordings with video. He also plays in an improv trio with Marc Maldemain and myself - all of which only exist as live performance. (before covid)
On his youtube channel he states: "Situational improvisations born out of an idea to spontaneously collaborate on location, Together but Separate (TBS), is Alan Jackson and Will Klingenmeier creating simultaneously in separate parts of the world. As such, TBS is an exercise of remote collaboration where we take a low-tech, almost postal approach. The only thing we share before each piece is a randomly generated instruction that includes: (1) a time and day; (2) the duration; (3) a title.
