The behaviour of most mailing lists is to quote who you're responding to. Some lists have a strict etiquette governing how this should be done. Netbehaviour does not. Most people here write their responses above the quoted message, while others don't quote at all. Yet other people write below the quoted message, and others only quote what they're responding too. But quoting happens and it won't disappear. That's the cost of receiving the digest, rather than individual emails.
