Design Media Instructional Support Associate (SL-2) Application Deadline: 10-16-2017 Department: School of the Arts Full-Time Salary: $44,000.00 + benenfits Job posted at: purchase.edu/hr Description: The School of the Arts at Purchase College, SUNY seeks candidates for the position of Design Media Instructional Support Associate for the School of Art+Design beginning 1/2/18. The Design Media Instructional Support Associate will be a participatory member in the Graphic Design Board of Study working with the department, faculty and students to define and integrate emerging technologies into the curriculum. The person in this position will be responsible for coordinating the supervision of a suite of computer classrooms and open labs, digital studios and fabrication workrooms. The successful candidate will be a flexible, inquisitive and reliable individual fluent in a broad range of digital and analog technologies pertinent to 2d, 3d, 4d processes, programs, and techniques with a focus on their use in contemporary graphic- and media-design practice. The position reports to the Manager of Instructional Technology and works with a team of instructional staff supporting academic programs in the School of Art+Design, this staff member will also interface with other areas of study within the School that rely on the facilities, processes and equipment supported by this position. The staff member will teach one course a semester within School of Art+Design curriculum and will develop and deliver a series of workshops open to the Design program and the School of Art+Design community. This staff member may also advise junior and senior projects/students on how to achieve their production goals. She/he will be expected to attend conferences, workshops and conduct research on a variety of issues surrounding emerging technology, professional standards in design practice and education. The base salary for the position will be 44-47K depending on experience, and will include a full benefits package and an additional downstate location stipend. Minimum Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Bachelor's degree in design, a related field or equivalent professional experience in design, digital production, arts, or new media, People skills, works well with others, interested in a creative educational environment. Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to use software and hardware used in advanced digital media productions and projects. Instructional or teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications: MFA or equivalent professional experience in digital production, arts, or a related field. Three or more years of related production and technical support experience. Working knowledge of new media technologies and equipment including 2D, 3D printing, laser cutter, and vinyl cutter. Experience or interest with interfacing analog and digital print production technologies. Experience or interest with virtual, web and time based software. Experience in a professional arts school setting in higher education.
